Temperance

Wild Violet

Temper hubris, or it consumes virtue;

Truth becomes what one says;

Forgotten while being said;

Nurture humility in its stead.

Dampen rage, lest it burns up peace;

Wars become commonplace,

Children die; the greedy race;

Love thy neighbor in its stead.

Avoid excess, lest burdens come;

Heavy worries, lost, misplaced;

Shiny things hide sullen face,

Give to the needy in its stead.

Give more than you think you can,

More will come into empty hands,

Foster love with humble grace,

Lay in peace on heaven’s chaise.
